Unite Us is looking for a mission-driven and inspirational Chief Technology Officer who is excited to represent Unite Us and our values publicly. Reporting to the CEO, and partnering with the VP of Product, the CTO will lead the engineering team by providing overall technical vision and direction, designing scalable systems, and creating processes and productivity measurements to advance our technology platform and mission. This person is a true leader and encourages transparency and accountability while empowering his/her team to execute.

What You'll Do:

  • Understand Unite Us business requirements and provide technical vision and direction for entire company
  • Act as Information Security Officer and manage risks related to Unite Us technology solutions
  • Work with stakeholders to develop requirements, align on priorities, strategize scaling, and report progress
  • Track, analyze and monitor technology performance metrics
  • Own and develop the technology architecture roadmap as a forward-looking leader and build a scalable infrastructure that anticipates the needs of the future
  • Collaborate with Product Management to transform requirements into technical specifications and software designs in an agile environment
  • Foster an energetic culture of ownership and commitment to shared product development goals
  • Lead, motivate and mentor the Engineering team by communicating clear expectations, setting performance objectives, providing regular and timely constructive feedback, ensuring balanced workload, and supporting professional growth

What's Required:

  • At least 10 years of experience as an engineering leader of high performing teams, having managed software architects and engineers
  • Has experience in high-growth companies, and has effectively managed the phases of growth
  • BS/MS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
  • Deep experience building HIPAA-compliant software, with a strong understanding of healthcare infrastructure and managed care integrations
  • Track record of recruiting, mentoring, and scaling engineering talent and building a strong engineering culture in an agile environment
  • A business leader with experience in a high-accountability, high empathy environment who can work collaboratively and effectively with all teams and stakeholders
  • Experience building highly reliable and scalable systems while designing new development processes and productivity measurements
  • Good understanding of data strategies including but not limited to data integration and implementation
  • Consistent track record of having demonstrated leadership capabilities through creating and executing vision for technical direction, collaborating and resolving conflict across interdisciplinary teams, and leading technical teams with support and enthusiasm

Environmental Job Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • This position is based in New York
  • This position requires 15% travel
