The Director of Product will own the process of defining, building, and launching improvements the company's key product. The successful candidate will grow a strong process and culture of product management; and will unite the disciplines of strategy, design, engineering, analytics, and marketing to provide a product that delivers on the company mission and vision.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product development by defining strategy, setting process, and driving execution.

  • Lead a user-centered process to validate hypotheses through user interaction.

  • Work closely with a partner-facing team to develop marketing, onboarding, and customer support for enterprise partners.

  • Work closely with engineering to make software architecture decisions and support an engineering process that meets goals for quality and timeline.

  • Manage current product team; strategize and drive hiring of additional product, design, analytics team members.

  • Work closely with the CEO to support organizational strategy, funder communication, and Board of Directors.

Desired Competencies

  • Experience launching and growing early stage products.

  • Understanding and appreciation for human-centered design, including experience in scoping user research, developing prototypes, and validating features using design process.

  • Ability to develop, articulate, and align teams around a clear strategy.

  • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve ambiguous problems with attention to detail.

  • Understanding of marketing and user growth strategies to drive adoption through both b2c and b2b channels.

  • Ability to write detailed user stories, identify edge cases, and work with the engineering team to roll out features in an agile, continuous deployment environment.

  • Create clear and comprehensive product requirements documents that empower design and engineering to work with a clear understanding of context, scope, success metrics, and common understanding of approach.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years experience owning a software product development process.

  • 3+ years experience owning a roadmap, defining requirements, managing QA.

  • Experience working on data products and optical character recognition systems is a plus.

  • Passion to improve opportunity and education for underserved communities.

  • Entrepreneurial ability and mindset - ready to solve problems wherever needed.
