Position Overview

Clarity (clarity.io), a Series A clean-tech startup, is seeking a highly motivated, experienced do-er to join our mission-driven team as the Marketing Lead to grow our marketing capabilities and execute lead generation and customer retention efforts. This position is based out of our headquarters in Oakland, CA with domestic and international travel as needed. Remote applications will be considered.

Our Company

At Clarity, we strive to empower the world in their mission to fight air pollution. We do it by making it accessible for cities and industries to measure and understand and take effective action against air pollution.

Traditional air monitoring technologies are bulky, expensive, and difficult to use. As a result, there are sparse monitoring and limited insights on when and where air pollution is happening, which limits effective action to reduce air pollution.

We envision a world where novel sensing technology, IoT and cloud computing simplify air quality measurement, allowing cities and industrial facilities to scale up the number of measurement sites cost-effectively. And we streamline the entire process from measurement to making sense of the data so our customers can focus on how best to use the data to inform policies and action.

Our Air Quality Sensing-as-a-Service solution is currently deployed in over 70 cities across 30+ countries. Some examples of on-going projects:

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced marketer to lead our efforts in expanding Clarity’s B2G and B2B marketing, acquiring and retaining users from segments including municipalities, regulators, communities, academics, large organizations, companies, and industries (especially in oil, gas, and mining).

As the Marketing Lead, you will work closely with the executive team to build out a high performing marketing engine and team, designing and implementing scalable marketing processes applicable to a company at our stage. You’ll work with Sales to increase qualified sales leads, Customer Success to increase retention, and Product with product marketing. In addition, you should be ready to own all marketing initiatives at Clarity and make the decisions to balance those initiatives between other teams.

You are someone who is experienced in B2G marketing (B2B experience is a plus) and has a passion for environmental issues. You are able to manage Clarity’s marketing efforts from top to bottom and have an excellent track of measuring campaigns with quantitative results. You should be able to develop a deep understanding of the market and build short-term and long-term marketing strategies. You are a creative person that is data-driven and loves to work collaboratively with internal sales, product, and project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all marketing-related efforts, including the company brand & website, demand generation, content marketing, marketing operations, internal and external communications and reporting
  • Work closely with the executive team, sales team and product team to surface, memorialize and set strategy, strategic objectives and executable plans
  • Design, manage and implement comprehensive quarterly marketing plans driven and managed by OKRs
  • Lead initiatives from start to finish, from strategy to execution
  • Develop a layer of analytics and attribution to identify needs and measure success
  • Manage internal and external marketing team members
  • Align strategies with cross-functional teams, including product, sales, customer success
  • Design weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting to clearly communicate initiatives and outcomes that can be published to executives and board
  • Build a marketing process that scales with the company
  • Represent Clarity at relevant trade shows, conferences, industry meetups, and offsite events
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • Manage budget by department, channel and campaign

Skills and qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years in a senior B2B/B2G marketing position or similar capacity
  • Highly self-motivated individual who can own and execute projects independently
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Empathetic and creative with a customer-first attitude
  • Highly quantitative approach with experience in marketing analytics and data-driven decision-making
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Desired:

  • Previous experience leading marketing at an early stage startup
  • Working knowledge or experience with Hubspot marketing tools
  • Design background with experience using programs such as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, websites such as webflow.io/Github
  • Knowledge of environmental technology, especially in air quality monitoring
  • Knowledge of the industrial sector, especially oil & gas, chemicals, and mining
  • Experience with IoT solutions
