Description

As a Staff DevOps Engineer at Crisis Text Line, you will help architect, build, scale, and maintain the infrastructure and processes that support the engineering teams and software for the world’s largest, free, 24/7 service supporting people in crisis over SMS and other messaging platforms. The technology you develop will help save lives.

What you'd work on:

  • Building, maintaining, and reliably managing the AWS-hosted infrastructure that powers our services using well-organized Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and other modern best practices
  • Providing leadership and guidance regarding best practices, new and existing technologies, and the architecture of our infrastructure and services
  • Improving the work output and experience of your engineering teammates by surfacing problems, identifying solutions, and cooperatively developing team processes
  • Developing and maintaining our CI/CD workflow, and encouraging a scalable deployment architecture that gives engineers visibility and power
  • Ensuring the stability, reliability, and security of our internal networking and our Data and ETL pipeline
  • Enhancing our monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to facilitate fast and painless problem resolutions
  • Supporting our engineers in maintaining and developing a modern web platform based on Symfony, Node.js, TypeScript, and React, where thousands of people in crisis get support every day by connecting with a trained crisis counselor
  • Facilitating and maintaining third-party integrations such as Twilio, Facebook, Salesforce, and Okta
  • Serving and providing the tooling for machine learning models developed by our in-house data scientists

We want you to:

  • Collaborate. We’re looking for empathetic team players who can communicate with Engineers, Product Managers, and other colleagues with kindness and clarity
  • Teach. You are generous with your time and experience, can mentor junior engineers, and promote technical best practices
  • Learn. You are flexible with languages and tools and are willing to learn whatever is necessary to get the job done
  • Build. You should have 5+ years of experience contributing in the realm of infrastructure, networking, and security as they pertain to application development, deployment, and accessibility. You should be able to write and encourage straightforward, well-structured code
