What you get to do:

We are looking for two Data Warehouse Developers to join our business intelligence team. You’ll work with a talented group of people to design flexible, adaptable, easy to use business intelligence (BI) solutions that meet the demands of CHFA’s changing business needs. 

The Data Warehouse Developer collaborates with members of CHFA’s BI team to design, develop, and optimize data to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable solutions for various analytics purposes. The role enhances business effectiveness by creating and maintaining business intelligence (BI) solutions that leverage information across the enterprise, supporting a learning organization that values continuous improvement.

The person in this role must have exceptionally strong analytical skills and ability to independently create BI solutions and be able to present information in a clear and intuitive way.   This person must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, agile development environment and be able to effectively engage with CHFA’s business community to deliver the best solution. 

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, detail-oriented, and possess a learning mindset. They will have excellent communication skills, enabling them to effectively convey complex technical concepts to a diverse audience. Their growth mindset will drive them to embrace change and innovation, continuously learning and adapting to new technologies and methodologies. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently as well as part of a team and has a strong work ethic.

The Data Warehouse Developer will report to the IT Director and participate in all phases of BI development – from technical concept and design, build, implementation, quality assurance and deployment.

Essential functions

  • Manage and develop CHFA’s data warehouse solutions including data ingestion from key source systems.
  • Develop, install, configure, deploy, troubleshoot the reporting environment.
  • Develop logical and physical data models, ETL scripts, multidimensional semantic layer, metadata definitions, queries and reports, and maintenance procedures.
  • Understand, coordinate, and map changes to source systems as they impact the reporting environment.
  • Work with others to identify, create, and deliver reports according to requirements.
  • Uncovers business needs and opportunities through root cause analysis, shadowing, benchmarking, or use of other business analysis techniques.
  • Create models for new data warehouse development and/or changes to existing data stores.
  • Contribute to data warehouse improvement projects.
  • Identify inefficiencies and gaps in current data warehouses and leverage solutions to ensure data standards
  • Identify data discrepancies and data quality issues and work to ensure data consistency and integrity.
  • Diagnose and resolve data warehouse access and performance issues.
  • Collaborate with our database administrators on data warehouse configuration and performance tuning.
  • Monitor system details within the data warehouse, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Follow CHFA’s change control and testing processes for modifications to systems.
  • Participate in data governance as a technical steward to document and communicate key data, calculations, and metric definitions.
  • Participate and contribute to activities and/or projects that directly support CHFA in fulfilling its mission and achieving its vision through dedication to the community in which CHFA serves operational excellence, and fiscal responsibility.

  • Robust, sustainable architecture that supports CHFA’s analytics needs.
  • Functional, accurate, reliable, well-documented and efficient analytic reporting environment
  • Evolving conceptual and logical models for the data warehouse or data mart to meet new and changing business requirements.
  • Reports and dashboards using reporting services and Tableau.

 

Knowledge, skills and ability

  • Understand BI theory and practicable tool architecture, functions, and features.
  • Understanding of source and target data structures, ETL processes, and products.

Experience/education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field a plus. Equivalent work experience may be substituted for degree requirements.
  • 10+ years of experience in writing SQL statements.
  • 6+ years of experience in the data warehouse space.
  • 6+ years of experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling.
  • 4+ years of experience in custom ETL design, implementation, maintenance
  • Proficient with BI Reporting tools, preferably WhereScape RED, Tableau and Alteryx
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Azure DevOps and version control systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), including the ability to design, develop, and integrate data sources to support reports using SQL Server data sources.
  • Experience working in the financial services industry and knowledge of related business processes is preferred.

Physical environment

The incumbent in this position must reside in Colorado and will perform the essential functions of the position primarily in a hybrid, which requires sitting at a desk for most of the day and must be able to act with or without reasonable accommodation.  Ability to read, hear and speak.  Ability to type and work on computers, with or without assisting devices. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.

The incumbent selected for this position can choose their on-site work frequency.  However, employees must live in Colorado.

$107,360 - $161,040
