The TARA Group is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our IT department, with a specialized focus on AWS and Snowflake platforms. This role is a good fit for someone with a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure architecture and a proven track record in supporting large-scale, data-heavy environments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced skills in designing, deploying, and managing scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on AWS, while also being proficient in administering Snowflake data warehousing solutions in close collaboration with our data engineering teams to architect solutions that support massive data volumes which are central to our business and revenue streams. 

In line with current industry trends, this role also integrates key responsibilities in cybersecurity to safeguard our extensive data assets against emerging threats. The Senior Cloud Engineer will be instrumental in implementing and maintaining security best practices across all cloud services, ensuring compliance with data protection laws and regulations. The role will involve continuous assessment of the security landscape to adapt and deploy the latest security technologies and frameworks, thereby enhancing our data integrity and confidentiality. By merging expertise in cloud engineering, data management, and cybersecurity, this position is poised to play a vital role in driving our company’s success in a data-centric world. 

This is a visible role supporting hundreds of staff across several operating companies with opportunities for exposure to industry leading data driven products and services. This is also a senior level technical role that will be given wide latitude to make architecture choices and work under minimal supervision.   

  • Design, deploy, and manage secure, scalable, and fault-tolerant cloud infrastructure for multi-account AWS environment. 
  • Administer multi-account Snowflake footprint for data teams for the development and optimization of data warehousing solutions tailored to massive, data-driven environments. 
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to support robust data pipelines that facilitate efficient data ingestion, storage, and processing. 
  • Integrate comprehensive cybersecurity measures, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory compliance for data and infrastructure protection. 
  • Optimize cloud resource utilization and cost management through effective infrastructure planning and applying best practices for cloud scalability and maintenance. 
  • Develop and execute operations monitoring solutions to ensure continuous availability and minimal downtime across all platforms, including Disaster Recovery planning. 
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and advancements in cloud computing, data storage, and cybersecurity to recommend innovative solutions. 
  • Lead cross-functional projects involving multiple stakeholders to enhance system performance and support business goals. 
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and team members, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

Requirements

    • Bachelors degree in related technical field 
    • 5+ years of deep expertise in AWS platform services, architecture, security best practices and resource/cost optimization. 
    • Strong experience with Snowflake’s cloud data platform, including setup, administration, integration, and security. 
    • Demonstrated ability in building and maintaining secure, high-availability systems in multi-cloud cloud environment. 
    • Knowledge of key data engineering principles and practices, essential for managing large-scale data systems. 
    • Proficiency in implementing robust cybersecurity frameworks and compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., CCPA, PCI, SOC2). 
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. 
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively interact with various technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
    • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. 
    • Ability to design and manage effective disaster recovery strategies. 
    • Background in system performance monitoring and optimization techniques. 
  • NICE TO HAVE SKILLS 
    • Masters degree in related technical field 
    • AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Security Specialty). 
    • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools  
    • Proficiency in scripting languages such as python or PowerShell for automation and data manipulation. 
    • Deep experience administering both Windows and Linux 
    • Exposure to advertising technology (ad tech) and its applications in data analysis and targeted advertising. 
    • Understanding of data engineering, data management, and data strategy concepts with the ability to support complex data ETL/ELT processes. 
    • Alteryx administration 
    • Experience in vendor management, especially in negotiating and managing technology service agreements. 
    • Experience working with political or consumer data, understanding the specific security and compliance requirements in these fields.
