About the opportunity

We're hiring a Product Analyst to join our team as we scale the AI-powered platform that's transforming how local governments manage their workforce. This is an opportunity to be the analytical backbone of our product development and customer success efforts while gaining deep, hands-on experience in what it takes to build a mission-driven startup from the ground up.

Holly's mission is to bring millions of Americans into public service through software that treats them with hospitality and care. We're building the first AI-powered platform to help local governments design and manage their workforces effectively, starting with automated job design and compensation benchmarking.

We’re built by former public servants and civic tech operators who met and incubated the company at Harvard Innovation Labs. We've raised $2.2M from leading investors in government technology and the future of work, including J2 Ventures, Roble Ventures, Gaingels, and prominent govtech founders and operators.

Our platform is live with jurisdictions representing 1% of the US population and growing rapidly. We're getting overwhelmed by demand as cities and counties look to replace expensive consultants ($100K+ annually) and plan for a modern workforce.

We need an analytical problem-solver who can bridge the gap between raw data and strategic insights while building the operational foundation for our growing customer base. Most importantly, we need someone who's excited to be a generalist, learn rapidly, and help us solve whatever challenge comes next. If you're energized by turning government workforce data into products that drive meaningful change—and want to understand how mission-driven companies are built—we'd love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

As an early-stage startup, your day-to-day will vary based on business needs and growth opportunities. You'll split your time between data analysis that drives product decisions, customer success initiatives that ensure our clients get maximum value, and operational improvements that help us scale efficiently.

Product Analytics and Data Management

  • Design and maintain dashboards and automated reporting systems that track product metrics, user engagement, and customer health
  • Own and project manage our data ingestion process, coordinating with engineering on scrapers, data imports, and pipeline maintenance
  • Ensure reliable, accurate collection of government job specifications and salary data from hundreds of jurisdictions
  • Troubleshoot data quality issues and work with the engineering team to implement solutions and process improvements
  • Support A/B testing and experimentation to optimize product features and user experience
  • Analyze large datasets of job specifications and compensation data using SQL and Python

AI-driven Product Operations

  • Test and fine-tune AI-generated outputs for accuracy in government hiring contexts and leverage AI tools to streamline internal workflows
  • Support product roadmap decisions with usage analytics and customer feedback synthesis
  • Design scalable processes and tools that help the team operate efficiently as we scale from 1% to 5%+ population coverage

Customer Success & Implementation Support

  • Create data-driven insights and customer-facing reports that demonstrate ROI and help customers understand their workforce trends
  • Support customer onboarding, create documentation and training materials, and identify opportunities for improved outcomes and feature development

What You’ll Have

We’d love to talk if you:

  • Have 1-3 years of professional experience in product analytics, data analysis, or business operations, ideally at an early stage-startup
  • Are proficient in SQL and comfortable working with large, complex datasets
  • Are familiar with modern AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) and understand how to leverage them effectively for analysis and productivity
  • Are detailed-oriented and can independently scope, plan, manage, and execute complex projects
  • Have strong communication skills and can translate technical findings into actionable business insights
  • Take ownership and move fast – You drive solutions independently, ship insights regularly, and thrive in the ambiguity of an early-stage startup
  • Have a growth mindset and roll up your sleeves – You eagerly learn new tools and methods, find resourceful solutions to problems, and love teaching others
  • Think like a future founder – You're curious about how businesses work, excited to understand the full picture from product to sales to operations, and energized by the opportunity to contribute to something meaningful

Bonus points for:

  • Experience with Python for data analysis (pandas, numpy, matplotlib/seaborn)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, or similar) and creating executive-level dashboards
  • Entrepreneurial experience: side projects, campus ventures, or early-stage startup exposure, and / or experience in government, public sector, or civic tech

What You’ll Get

  • Entrepreneurial Toolkit – Learn what it takes to build a mission-driven company from the ground up, working directly with founders to gain the tools, processes, and mindset you need whether you grow with Holly or start your own company
  • Strategic Impact – Your analysis will directly inform product decisions, customer success strategies, and business direction—see how data drives startup growth in real-time
  • Technical skill development – Sharpen skills across product, data, AI tooling, analytics, and operations
  • Mission-Driven Outcomes – Your work will directly improve how local governments operate, helping millions of Americans find fulfilling careers in public service while learning how to scale social impact
  • Growth & Ownership – Take on increasing responsibility as the company grows, with clear opportunities to lead initiatives
  • Competitive Package – $75-95K base salary, 0.1-0.25% equity (depending on experience), comprehensive health benefits (platinum plan, vision, & dental), and hybrid work environment (3-4 days in office)

Our Interview Process

We believe in hiring fast, but thoughtfully. Our interview process is designed to simulate the most important tasks of the job and give you a full perspective on what it’s like to be part of our team.

  1. Initial call (30 min) – Quick intro with Cherie & Brendan to learn about your background and share more about the company.
  2. Analytical take-home (1-2 hours) - Explore your data analysis and problem-solving skills with a realistic dataset.
  3. Case interview (30 min) – Deep dive into analytical capabilities and approach to complex problems.
