Research Intern - Fall 2025

Everytown for Gun Safety, the nation’s largest gun violence prevention advocacy group, is seeking a Research Intern for the Fall 2025 semester. Everytown’s Research Department studies how gun violence occurs in America and identifies the best policies and interventions to prevent and address it. In this role, the Intern will support and contribute to Everytown’s research of various types of gun violence, who it impacts, and how it impacts different communities in diverse ways. Interns are expected to work 15 hours (combination of in-person and remote) per week.
Primary Responsibilities:

Conduct and write literature reviews, and critically analyze new research to support both day-to-day and longer-term research on gun violence prevention in the US;

Contribute to drafts of analytically rigorous and credible research materials, including memos, factsheets, and blog posts for a wide range of audiences;

Collect, clean, and conduct basic data analysis of gun violence-related datasets;

Collaborate on the development and execution of online content;

Assist the team in routine research administrative tasks, as and when required;

Support data accuracy for EveryShot by reviewing entries, flagging errors, and helping ensure incidents are categorized and displayed correctly;

Interact regularly with Everytown staff across all departments to ensure effective coordination and delivery of research program activities.
Note: This position can be hybrid, with some days in the New York City office, or fully remote.
The minimum pay rate for this position is $17.00 per hour.
Dates: Anticipated start date September 22, 2025 through January, 2026
The candidate must meet the following requirements:

Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program;

Demonstrated ability to write well & produce written materials for non-technical audiences;

Have exceptional attention to detail;

Some previous experience conducting basic data analysis on social science datasets is preferred;

Willingness to take initiative on projects;

Ability to quickly learn and adapt to a fast-paced environment;

Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
