Position Summary

Candid currently has an opportunity for a Senior Product Designer. As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll shape intuitive, high-impact experiences across Candid’s digital products by leading the design process from discovery through delivery. Partnering with product managers, engineers, and fellow designers, you’ll uncover user needs, translate insights into actionable solutions, and craft seamless, polished interactions that span the entire user journey. Your expertise in UX design will help ensure our solutions are both user-centered and visually cohesive, while your collaboration will play a key role in driving innovation and creating meaningful experiences that solve real problems for our users.

Position: Senior Product Designer

Reporting to: Director of Design

Supervises: N/A

Schedule: 35-hour work week, Monday through Friday

Compensation: $100,000 - $135,000 (this range is for the NYC area and will be adjusted for other localities; additionally, factors like skills and experience will be considered).

Location: Remote. In-person attendance is expected twice per year during our annual, weeklong all-staff summits. Additional in-person meeting participation is expected at least once per quarter for senior leaders and at least once per month for the executive team. Staff not located in the NYC area are expected to travel for these meetings.

Responsibilities  

  • Work as part of an empowered product team: collaborate with the product manager and engineering lead as part of the product triad, ensuring product design is grounded in a clear understanding of users’ needs and expressed through intuitive UX flows spanning the entire user journey, delivering a seamless, holistic experience. 
  • Lead the end-to-end design process from discovery through delivery — including research, ideation, prototyping, testing, interaction design, and visual polish — to ensure we create intuitive and meaningful user experiences. 
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to uncover customer needs, validate hypotheses, and inform product decisions. Translate insights into actionable design directions. 
  • Rapid experimentation: partner with product and engineering to quickly test and iterate on ideas, ensuring we learn fast and reduce risk before investing in full-scale development. 
  • Skillfully design data visualizations that make complex data accessible and actionable. Focus on thoughtful, interactive designs that allow users to explore, interpret, and use information with clarity and confidence. 
  • Maintain and evolve our Figma component library, building and customizing components from scratch to ensure consistency and efficiency. 
  • Mentor interns and junior designers, providing valuable guidance and expertise, while actively leading discussions and collaborative brainstorming sessions to cultivate a growth-oriented and innovative design culture within the team. 
  • Execute design, production, and maintenance tasks efficiently across a range of digital products, websites, and marketing materials. 
  • Implement design standards and guidelines across all deliverables. 
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned. 

Requirements  

  • 5+ years of experience in product design, including user experience design, interface design, and front-end web development. 
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating senior-level expertise in designing complex, user-centered products across a variety of projects. 
  • High proficiency in Figma, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator (as well as other Adobe Creative Suite software), and other digital design and prototyping tools. 
  • Practice user-centered design principles and methodologies. 
  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with experience in web accessibility; React framework experience is a plus. 
  • Experience designing tools or systems that incorporate AI/ML 
  • Deep curiosity about and familiarity with generative AI 
  • Exposure to agentic systems, conversational interfaces, or LLM-powered workflows 
  • Leadership and mentorship experience is a plus. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Willingness to perform other duties and special projects as needed/requested.
