Overview and Purpose of the Role

The Data Analyst role requires a high level of relevant technical and analytical skills to support our development operations. Role specific description

Our work is cross-functional and high impact. A typical project might combine polling and research, data science, and insights generation and presentation. Analysts will occupy different roles on different project teams across core functions and to grow professionally.

The role of Data Analyst at Datapraxis will incorporate a combination of the following responsibilities.

Research and analytics: 

  • Designing and delivering data analytics, research and analysis for client and internal projects; from questionnaire drafting through vendor management, survey mechanics execution, survey data management and quality control, and data analysis. 
  • Conceptualising and executing statistical modelling projects, including with GDPR-compliant strategies that support the strategic and tactical decision making. This covers the end-to-end process from data preparation and management, quality assurance, exploratory analysis, model building (for example cluster modelling or MRP), and analysis of model findings and results.
  • Utilising our core technology stack, including Python, SQL, GCP, and dbt, to efficiently manage data resources and pipelines.
  • Data wrangling and manipulation of diverse, large-scale datasets from multiple sources using Python (or comparable languages) to prepare data for advanced analytical projects.
  • Developing diverse research programmes suitable to different projects, needs, budgets and country contexts.
  • Creating accessible and attractive reports, presentations, data visualisations to communicate actionable political insights which support client or organisational needs. 

Contributing to innovation, testing & development: 

  • Applying, reviewing, and improving our current analytics techniques (including but not limited to cluster analysis, predictive modelling, multi-level regression with post-stratification (MRP) methods, and natural language processing); 
  • Exploring new and interesting ways to visualise, explore and combine data; 
  • Horizon-scanning for new techniques and working to expand our repertoire, ensuring that Datapraxis tests and adopts new research and analytics methods in an agile way that contributes to our mission;  
  • Working with partners on innovative joint projects to develop new methods for understanding the drivers and influences on voters’ political behaviours.

Development and Maintenance of Technical Infrastructure and Data Warehouse: 

  • Supporting the ongoing development and maintenance of Datapraxis’ technical environment and tools, including our database, polling data pipelines and processes, and data assets;
  • Supporting data acquisition and ingestion, including evaluating opportunities for third party data and ETL.

Other requirements:

  • Requirement: Fluency in English (working language at Datapraxis)
  • Additional consideration given for candidates with working proficiency in at least one other European languages.
