Are you able to hear what users need and configure systems accordingly? Do you have a strong interest in building and improving technology systems, turning data into usable insights, and building tools that make work smarter for everyone? Does the idea of working with mission driven colleagues inspire you?  If you are an early stage professional or a recent graduate of a coding program and are eager to put those skills to use, we want to hear from you.

Knight Foundation supports a more effective democracy by funding free expression and journalism, arts and culture in community, research in areas of media and democracy, and the success of American cities and towns where the Knight brothers once published newspapers. Our approach is inclusive and nonpartisan. We value freedom of speech and the press, and we often embrace new and innovative technology to achieve our goals. Our drive to create positive change is amplified by our ability to collaborate internally and with our partners. We look for authenticity, agility, and accountability, knowing we are at our best when we leverage our collective strengths and experiences. We proactively approach our work with a sense of pride and responsibility–adapting, as needed, to the changing realities in our communities.

We are seeking an individual with strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills who is eager to maintain and enhance our systems and support users across the organization.

  • Develop and maintain scripts, automations, and integrations to support business processes.
  • Document process and system changes, perform testing and deploy updates accurately.
  • Conduct data audits and cleanup activities to ensure quality and reliability of reporting. Apply and maintain data standards and naming conventions to promote consistency.
  • Work collaboratively with internal staff and external vendors to troublshoot and resolve system issues.
  • Conduct extensive analysis of grants data; identify and present trends; interpret results; and make action-oriented recommendations
  • Assist in preparing data sets and summaries for finance, impact, and compliance reporting.
  • Assist staff and grantees with processing activities throughout the grant life cycle
  • Support and partner with staff and grantees in the overall grant-making process, including development of grant documents, structuring of grants and ensuring regulatory compliance requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with users to identify and apply tools that enhance the user’s experience and ability to utilize and learn from data.
  • Provide user assistance, documentation, and training for staff and grantees using our grants management system.
  • Update system guides, FAQs and release notes to reflect current workflows and system features.

  • Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity with curiosity and a learning mindset.
  • Skillful in creating understandable and actionable narratives with data
  • A strong orientation towards customer service and ability to communicate well with internal and external stakeholders.
