As a core member of our product team, you'll own features from idea to production. You won't just implement specs—you'll identify problems, sketch solutions, prototype quickly, and ship polished experiences that teachers love.

This role requires deep user empathy. You'll talk to teachers regularly, visit classrooms, and read through interaction traces to understand how educators actually work. You need to be genuinely motivated to improve daily life for K-12 teachers and outcomes for their students.

You will:

  1. Own the full feature lifecycle. From forming hypotheses, to sketching in Figma or code, to shipping production-ready features. There's no handoff—you design, build, and ship.
  2. Build AI-powered experiences that feel exceptional. Design and implement chat interfaces and agentic workflows that are fast, intuitive, and polished down to the details.
  3. Move fast and know when to slow down. Ship scrappy prototypes to validate ideas quickly, then refine what works into something robust and scalable.
  4. Optimize our AI systems. Engineer context, design tools, tune prompts, and build evaluation frameworks to make our LLM-powered features more accurate and useful.
  5. Shape our architecture and design systems. Work with TypeScript, React, Postgres, Bun, and Effect. Build reusable components and primitives that raise the quality bar across the product. Help us make smart technical decisions as we scale.

What you bring:

  1. End-to-end product instinct. You've shipped features where you were responsible for the idea, the design, and the code. You're comfortable making product decisions, not just technical ones.
  2. Strong frontend craft. You build UIs that feel polished—smooth interactions, thoughtful affordances, attention to detail. You care about how things feel, not just whether they function.
  3. Full-stack TypeScript fluency. Comfortable jumping from implementing a Figma mockup to designing a backend service to debugging a streaming response.
  4. Taste and speed. You have opinions about what makes software good, and you can move fast without sacrificing quality where it matters.

Compensation & structure:

Compensation is $10,000–$15,000/month  depending on experience. Due to the structure of our current funding, we can only offer contract-based roles at this time—benefits are not included.

We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every qualification. Great candidates come from a variety of backgrounds, and research shows underrepresented applicants often underestimate their readiness. If you're excited about this work, we want to hear from you.

We have team members in NYC and Seattle, so candidates in those cities will have opportunities to work together in person. That said, we're open to fully remote—including international—for the right person.

To Apply

Email [email protected] and [email protected] with your resume (inc. links you think best showcase your background or skills) and a few sentences about why you're excited about this role.

If you progress, we'll send you a short practical exercise and ask you to record a brief video walking us through your approach.
